SAN FRANCISCO -- Walk of Game, the first physical landmark honoring the icons and pioneers of the videogame industry, today announced its list of 2006 inductees. John Carmack and Sid Meier were selected in the Lifetime Achievement category, and EverQuest, Final Fantasy, Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), and StarCraft received the top votes for favorite Games/Characters.
This is the second year that Walk of Game has presented these awards. Gamers worldwide cast their votes through paper ballots and online submissions at www.WalkOfGame.com during the one-month voting period of October 1-31, 2005.
Winners will be honored with a permanent 24"x24" customized steel star installed on the floors of Metreon, the 350,000 square foot Mecca for gamers in downtown San Francisco. The official induction ceremony is currently set for Spring 2006 as this year's inductees will join the ranks of last year's winners: Nolan Bushnell, Shigeru Miyamoto, Halo, Link (The Legend of Zelda), Mario, and Sonic The Hedgehog.
