Meier and Carmack join Bushnell and Miyamoto

The Walk of Game today announced this year's inductees. The two individuals honored with a "Lifetime Achievement" award are Sid Meier and John Carmack. Sid Meier's name is emblazoned across some of gaming's most notable strategy titles (including Civilization ) and Carmack is responsible for programming several landmark games in the FPS genre (like Quake ).

Four were also inducted in the "Games/Characters" category. Three games inducted were the landmark RTS StarCraft , the seminal RPG series Final Fantasy , and the game perhaps most responsible for creating the modern conception of MMORPGs, EverQuest . The lone character to be honored was Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series.
